Tehran – Attempts by certain figures and countries to rename the Persian Gulf as the "Arabian Gulf" are doomed to failure, according to Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri. 

"For centuries, attempts to distort historical facts and fabricate geographical realities have failed. The Persian Gulf remains the undisputed historical and geographical truth of our region. Instead of propagating fictitious maps, we urge you to consult globally recognized and authoritative cartographic sources,” Nouri wrote on X recently. 

Citing two US officials, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Wednesday that Trump intends to announce during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia that the US will now refer to the Persian Gulf as the “Arabian Gulf” or the “Gulf of Arabia”.

Although historical records have established that the strategic waterway is named "Persian Gulf," certain Arab states and their allies have long promoted the alternative and fabricated term "Arabian Gulf" for it.
